Having had hanging up his boots at the end of last season, Scholes surprise ending his retirement shortly before Manchester United meet Manchester City in the FA Cup third round on Sunday (01/08/2012). He was hired by the Red Devils until the end of this season.
The more surprising, Scholes straight into the line-ups in the game counter City. In fact, he's come into play for about 30 minutes as a substitute.
MU's decision to sign this Scholes received appreciation from Butt. "That is a smart move by the manager," he told MUTV.
Butt, who once played with Scholes at Manchester United in the period 1992-2004, knew very well that the quality of former teammate. He believes the presence of Scholes will motivate an entire army of Sir Alex Ferguson.
"You will not get a better player than Paul Scholes. He is a player who can do what no one else can," he explained.
"He was dictating play and make things so simple. Nothing can be more than he had in doing it," said Butt.
"This is a great boost for everyone at the club," he concluded.
