London - Former Chelsea player Gianfranco Zola gives a technical assessment about dropping Fernando Torres with "The Blue". According to him, the Spanish international striker was often wrong position.
Torres has been one year playing for Chelsea, since it was purchased for 50 million pounds from Liverpool in January 2011. However, of 40 games in all competitions, he has produced five goals.
"I like Torres. He used to play very well," said Zola told Goals on Sunday that reported by Sky Sports.
"Sometimes I think he's difficult for himself, because he was often out of dangerous area (penalty box) the opposing team.
"He tried to get a space on the left or right, but should he more to the middle, where he could achieve many goals. I think that's what caused his problems.
"He's away from the danger zone, he does not score many goals, and his confidence slumped. This is sad because we see the potential there," concluded Zola has ever defended Chelsea's five seasons.
Torres made only one goal in the (half) his first season at Stamford Bridge. So far this season he has produced two goals in the Premier League and two in the Champions League. As a comparison, he collected 81 goals from 142 matches with Liverpool in all competitions.
